Yorkhill Children's Hospital PICU Unit

Refurbishment of the existing 2nd floor ward 2a and former theatres to form a new Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit (ICU/HDU) to provide 16 intensive care and 12 high dependency beds. Included is the formation of a new build second floor extension link on the existing kitchen and canteen roof connecting both units.

The works were carried out adjacent to the existing ICU/HDU which remained operational throughout.   Our team kept in constant contact with all staff, ensuring timetabling of work was undertaken in conjunction with staff and hospital activities as this was a particularly sensitive area for building work to be carried out.

The structural alterations involved significant temporary works designs and measures to prevent noise, dust and using infection control measures were paramount throughout the contract.  High standards of build quality were required throughout the contract. This included the installation of precision steelwork imported from Germany to support Medical Pendants. The building was very highly serviced, including the provision of medical gases, we took careful precautions to ensure these remained unaffected.

Due the sensitive nature of the building it was essential that the quality of finishes was to the highest standard and that the building was handed over defect free.  This was achieved and resulted in a very satisfied Client.
