Site Visit for Architectural Students

14 students studying Architectural Technology at the City of Glasgow College for Built Environment got the chance of seeing what it’s really like to work on a live site.

Ogilvie Construction, currently underway with the construction of the new 262 bedroom Student Accommodation in Collegelands offered assistance to the college by inviting the students to site giving them an insight to life in the construction industry.

The second year students were accompanied by Senior Lecturer, David Eccleson of the City of Glasgow College and Ogilvie’s Pre Construction Manager, Paul Neil, who delivered a 20 minute presentation giving an overview of the project and discussion of several key technical points. This was followed by a guided tour of the site, where many questions were asked and interfaces looked at in detail. The visit ended with a group question and answer session, giving the students the opportunity to ask both general construction and project specific questions.

Due to the success of this site visit, and the enthusiasm of the students, Ogilvie Construction are already planning a tour for more students in the near future.
