Refurbishment of Lanark Sheriff Court

Ogilvie undertook the complete refurbishment and extension of Lanark Sheriff Court for Scottish Court Services. The existing building, built in two stages, one mid 19th century the other early 20th century, required major structural alterations – similar to those required in the refurbishment of 50 George Square, significant fabric repairs and a complete internal and external refurbishment.

Internally, we installed extensive services within the building such as computer points, wireless laptop points and conference facilities with a high level interior quality finish.  To promote sustainability, secondary glazing was installed to increase levels of thermal efficiency.

The extension comprised the construction of a two storey building to the rear of the existing building and building work commenced whilst the building was still occupied and fully operational.

Kilmacolm Community Centre

Ogilvie has recently completed the Kilmacolm Community Centre providing: a library, café, main hall and individual multi purpose office spaces.

Ogilvie Construction undertook the total refurbishment of the two storey community centre building including the conversion of a B listed school board building into a new library and commercial unit.  A mezzanine floor was installed and all the external walls were relined to give a high value to the building. All new services were installed to comply with current legislation.

The library area had the existing floor taken out and solum lowered, with a new structural slab installed complete with insulation below and under floor heating installed.  Large structural alterations were done to the external walls to allow a feature curtain wall system to be installed to the gable of the building.

To promote sustainability and minimise wastage on site, all repairs to boundary walls were done by re using stone/rubble from all down takings to the two buildings.  The scotch slates from the existing Community Centre were also reused on the school board building and supplemented by carefully selecting re-cycled scotch slates.
