Ogilvie Construction has broken ground on a new £30 million initiative to build 283 new flats in Wellheads Road in Dyce for Aberdeen City Council.
The development will comprise of a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments across four buildings, each constructed to a height of five storeys. The buildings are positioned to create linear green open spaces with outdoor seating and two children’s play areas.
The initiative is part of the biggest local authority housebuilding programme in Aberdeen in more than 50 years which aims to deliver an additional 2,000 council homes for the region.

Ogilvie Construction has started site operations to build over 100 apartments in Glasgow’s West End for Drum Property Group.
When complete, G3 Square in Minerva Street, Glasgow, will feature 108 apartments and penthouses within a landscaped outdoor space. The development will rise to six stories, with car parking and lift access to all levels.
The architecture echoes the height and feel of nearby traditional sandstone buildings and crescents, while planting will frame around both sides of the south block and flow through the centre, creating leafy spaces for recreation and a place for residents to relax in the heart of the city. Due for completion in 2020, apartments will range in size from one, two and three bedrooms and start at £159,000.

Ogilvie Construction has broken ground on a £20 million project to build a new student residence at New City Road in Glasgow for Bricks Capital, creating the second facility in the city for the ‘true student’ brand.
The 13 storey L-shaped tower will create 315 high-quality rooms in a mix of individual studios and shared apartments with associated communal areas. Students will benefit from a range of facilities including a gym, cinema, as well as study areas and laundry facilities. The building is expected to open in late summer of 2020. It is ideally located for quick access to the universities, city centre and public transport links.
Staff from Ogilvie have this week visited a local school to visit a boy who has taken a keen interest in construction. Following classes learning about ‘The World of Work’, the P4 pupil produced a book of poetry and dedicated it to Ogilvie.
His teachers passed on the book to Ogilvie who decided to hand deliver a thank you letter and provide the class with some PPE equipment of their own.

Ogilvie Construction's project to redevelop the Hawick Campus of Borders College has also bought about some positive changes for more than just the local students.
Ogilvie are participating in the Community Benefits Scheme encourages the use of local contractors, as well as employing local people. 41-year old James Kirby from Hawick has secured a full time job following a successful 2-week placement with Ogilvie and will continue to work on the new campus.

The next exciting development in the regeneration of Galashiels is a step closer as work gets set to start on creating the Great Tapestry of Scotland visitor attraction.
Stirling-based Ogilvie Construction has been appointed to build the landmark facility for the attraction, which tells the story of Scotland through one of the world’s largest tapestries created by 1,000 people from across the country.
Work is expected to start in the coming weeks at the town centre site, which will be transformed with the creation of the new building. It has been designed by one of Scotland’s leading architectural practices, Page \ Park, with new images of what it is expected to look like now available.
The visitor centre – which is accessible from Edinburgh in less than an hour via the Borders Railway - will have a wide range of interactive displays and activities. There will also be exhibitions and events for tourists and locals alike, as well as a gift shop, café with local and seasonal produce, and educational facilities for all age groups.
The Great Tapestry of Scotland – which will be managed by charity Live Borders - will kickstart a new future for Galashiels, alongside a number of other projects which will provide a host of benefits for the town and the Scottish Borders.
These include the new town trail which will include a sculpture dedicated to Galashiels sweet seller Robert Coltart who wrote the world famous children’s lullaby Coulter’s Candy (Ali Bali Bee). Significant improvements to the town centre are currently being taken forward in partnership with community groups, and a masterplan which aims to transform Galashiels and encourage investment in the wider Borders economy is being progressed.
Ogilvie Construction has started work on Glasgow’s first YOTEL in a prime location on Argyle Street opposite the city’s Central Station.

Ogilvie Construction will break ground this month on a new £4.5 million Travelodge in South Gyle, Edinburgh for developer Crucible Alba Group.
The new 70 bedroom hotel is due to be completed in the Autumn and aims to attract tourists and business travellers taking advantage of its proximity to Edinburgh International Airport. It is located on a site purchased from Greene King and adjacent to a recently opened Farmhouse Inn.

Ogilvie Construction's latest batch of vans have been delivered to Stirling and are now on the road construction sites across the UK.
The 38 vans, made up of Ford Transit Customs, will be used to replace existing vans as well as allow to meet needs for current projects, have been leased via sister company Ogilvie Fleet.
