The details bear this out with contracts including; car showrooms, assisted living accommodation, student residencies, hotel and leisure developments, luxury private residencies, and new build schools. But the diversity doesn’t stop there. Ogilvie’s flexible approach has also enabled new procurement routes and contract types to feature throughout this enviable catalogue of projects including; Design & Build, Traditional, 2-Stage, and Open Book Negotiations.
Phil McEwan (Managing Director) views this upturn in a different light. “It’s satisfying to us that some clients and design teams continue to recognise the importance of a collaborative approach to produce high quality, commercially viable, contracts. For too long the focus had shifted away from this, playing into the hands of claims-led contractors who were prepared to adopt more confrontational strategies for the sake of turnover. Hopefully this year represents a watershed for the industry as a whole.”
This announcement is not only good news for the employees of Ogilvie Construction, in a market where jobs certainly have been hard to come by, but also for the supply chain, subcontractors, and local businesses whose fortunes are inextricably linked to those of one of the area’s largest employers.
The Group Chief Executive, Duncan Ogilvie, commented that “Ogilvie have been a feature of the Scottish construction industry since 1946, a fact of which we are rightly proud. It is on the back of successes like these that we can look to the future with a high degree of confidence and optimism.”
